Barry Reese*, B. Journalism (Carleton), LL.B (Queen’s)
Barry took journalism at Carleton University in Ottawa and received his law
degree from Queen’s University in Kingston. He then spent a year teaching junior
high school in New York City before returning to do his articles. He was called
to the Ontario Bar in 1988.
Barry began his legal career in Toronto at McCarthy Tetrault, Canada’s largest
national law firm, where he practiced corporate-commercial law and specialized
in entertainment law for several years. He then headed up a branch law office in
Mississauga for Byrnes, Chan & Loh. There he focused his practice on real estate
and corporate-commercial transactions.
Since 2000, Barry has been practicing on his own while acting as General Counsel
for a successful high-tech trading/manufacturing firm. From 2001 to 2004, he
also taught various music industry and copyright law courses at the Trebas
Institute.
Barry is active in his church and in the community. He has coached and convened
hockey and baseball in Brampton at various levels for many years. He is involved
with several non-profit organizations as a director and volunteer.
Barry’s diverse experiences continue to serve him well in understanding and
meeting his clients’ needs.
